To Our Communities

The Psychology Association of Saskatchewan (PAS) is very aware of the wide-reaching impact COVID-19 is having on the people of our province. In this time of uncertainty, existing mental health concerns may worsen or new ones may arise. To provide assistance to those looking to garner mental health support we have compiled a list of our members who are willing and able to provide virtual care. Please see Public Resources. This list will be updated over time.

Recommended Fee: $200 per hour

The above fee recommendation derived by the Psychological Association of Saskatchewan represents a general guideline to assist individual psychologists in determining fee rates for services. The fee recommendation is also made available for reference to users of psychological services such as individual clients and insurers. Each practitioner sets their own fees, incorporating this fee guideline into their particular circumstance. It is expected fees will be adjusted based upon the specific credentials of the psychologist and nature of services being offered (e.g., legal and consultation services may garner a higher hourly rate).

This fee recommendation came into effect on January 2022. It is the intention of the PAS to review the fee on an annual basis.

ACT Basics: Intro Workshop for Therapists (Online)

Date: November 3rd, 2023 Time: 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM MST

Presenter: Dr. Sheri Turrell

Location: Virtual (Zoom)

Price:

$140 CAD - Early Bird (before October 3rd, 2023)

$160 CAD - Regular

Description of workshop

ACT is an empirically supported cognitive behavior therapy, based upon unique philosophical and theoretical foundations that targets psychological and behavioral flexibility in the presence of whatever shows up inside (i.e., thoughts, emotions, and urges).  As we learn to stand back and watch thoughts and feelings, with curiosity and willingness, we make room to consider who and what matters so we can take our life in meaningful directions.

In this 4-hour virtual workshop, Sheri will introduce you to the basic philosophical and theoretical foundations of the ACT model in fun and practical ways. Linking the foundations to clinical work, Sheri will combine jargon-free instructions with experiential opportunities to learn the basics of the model.  This introductory ACT workshop will give therapists working with adolescents and adults in a variety of settings a solid grasp of the important elements of ACT.

Grove Centre Upcoming Trainings

Sponsored by Grove Centre for Child and Family Therapy in Burnaby, BC

Presented in person by Christopher Conley, MA, RCC, RMFT, CPT-S, RPT-S

Intensive Child-Centered Play Therapy (August 2023)

Child-Centered Play Therapy, a prominent model of play therapy is an evidence-based therapeutic intervention for children ages 3-12 and older. It is an approach that helps children express feelings, resolve presenting issues, heal trauma, develop emotional regulation and problem-solving skills, and enhance self-esteem. Play serves important child developmental purposes and represents the child's attempt to organize and integrate their experiences. Play has deep meaning to a child’s internal world and it is the process of externalizing these images through play witnessed by a skilled therapist who is fully present that growth and healing occur.

Intensive Filial Therapy Training (August 2023)

Filial Therapy is a highly effective, relatively short-term, evidence-based approach that is cost-effective in facilitating positive and long-lasting child and family change. Therapists learn how to train and supervise parents as they conduct special child-centered play sessions with their own children (ages 3-12+). The Intensive Filial Therapy Training Program developed by Dr. Risë VanFleet features the work of Filial Therapy originators, Drs. Bernard and Louise Guerney. Christopher is a Certified Filial Therapy Instructor.

Low participant-to-instructor ratio, experiential with direct observation and feedback from instructor. The intensive trainings are specifically designed so that participants can confidently and competently start using it with their clients upon completion of the training.

CRSI is excited to present our 2023 Fall Conference at  TCU Place in Saskatoon:

“THE SCARF MODEL:  Conflict Formation and  Resolution”

with

Jon Martin & Travis Jones of the NeuroLeadership Institute

Thursday November 2, 2023

9:00 am – 4:30 pm

and

Sherry Van Hesteren & Guests on

Friday November 3, 2023

9:00 a.m. to  12:00 Noon {Central/SK time}

The NeuroLeadership Institute will be presenting the  SCARF Model a framework of basic  human social needs and their role in conflict formation and resolution.

David Rock and the NeuroLeadership Institute have developed, since 2009, a  brain-based model of basic human social  needs. The far-reaching implications and  benefits of this model continue to accrue  with further research and practice.  Conflict Resolution Saskatchewan Inc.  offers a unique opportunity to explore the  model in the Saskatchewan context with a  full day of Samantha Karlin of the  NeuroLeadership Institute on June 8  followed by a facilitated morning with  Sherry Van Hesteren on June 9, including  a panel of professionals who incorporate  the SCARF model into their daily work.  Sherry will moderate the panel discussion and then lead an engaging and interactive  discussion, applying and finding the  relevance of the model for participants.

We’ve all heard of Maslow’s hierarchy of  basic human needs - but what about  psychological needs? Join the

Neuroleadership Institute for an interactive  day of training on the SCARF model- our  copyrighted model of psychological needs.  We are going to take a deep dive into the  neuroscience of emotions. Participants will  learn emotional regulation strategies, how  to re-interpret triggers, and discuss tactics to  defuse the flames of heated moments in  order to prevent and de-escalate conflict.
